Today, raya Korban, as always celebrated at tok's house. Umi was not feeling well, coughing now and then but work must be done. After subuh umi fried beehoon, mee and fried rice, all ready to be served. by 8, the takbir from both surau and mosque was already called. Ketupat, gulai, rendang pun ade.
Umi could not decide where to go as abah did not come yet. then Bob told that they would pray at Masjid Tanjung Pauh, so umi decided to go to the nearby surau, a place that was a popular spot during my childhood. That was where we played hide and sick seek, played cikgu-cikgu, masak bubur asyura, attended nite tuition and of course praying....
Umi had not been to that surau for about 30 years, even though i pass by the place every time umi comes to see tok, but never stop. Today, umi felt slightly awkward, and sure the villagers also started thinking: Awat la si Yan ni mai semayang sini. normally umi would go to Masjid Al A'la but today i made another bold move. Of course i still recognize some of my childhood friends who are now as old as i am, and the mak ciks who used to entertain me at their houses. I was well-liked (perasan tapi betui) by them as i was a very good girl.......
The prayers completed in about 30 minutes and off i went home. This raya was quite a quiet affair as none of my siblings came home...so i le tuan rumah, i le tetamu. Luckilly my children are here.....Tonite i am still spending my nite at tok's and my fever continues.
