Alin dan rm1

Still on Teacher's Day celebration. As expected, no more presents this time but more of SMS and FB wishes.Thank you to those students who still remember me as their teacher, those who did not send also surely remember umi...as much as umi still owes my great teachers back in school, college and university. umi wants to  mention a few , Cikgu Azizan, Yahya, Siti Kamariah, Gayah, Wan Zainab, ust Zabidi, teacher Gaek Boi, teacher Maznah(primary) teacher Rohana, ust Abdullah, Cikgu Soleman, Wan Yahya, (secondary) Mr Boyle, Mr Potter, Mrs Weisberg, Mr Boyd (College) Mr Brian, Mona, Patricia, Miss Finnigan, (university) These special people helped created who i am today. The best teacher would be  my aruah Long, who taught me Al Quran when i was 6 years old until form 3. her guidance really helps me until now. May Allah bless all these people now and in the hereafter, insyaallah.

However, what actually  triggers me to publish this post is about my daughter Nurul Fadhlin who is now in standard 2. Yesterday, she bought a few presents for her teacher but it  seemed not enough for all . thus, in the morning abah gave her rm10 to buy flowers sold by the school co-op. however, she forgot to buy but still wanted to give her teacher a present, she went to her teacher and gave her rm1. Taken by surprise, the teacher refused to take the money and asked her to buy food at the canteen. Alin wanted to give each teacher rm1 she said. when she told us the story, we laughed at her. but thinking back, umi thinks, that particular teacher should take that rm1 because it was sincerely given by alin. she should not expect the present to be in form of a nicely, beautifully wrapped present. what matters here is the thought not the present. she failed to understand the true meaning of teacher's day. umi used to get a brochure placed in a match box and umi took it coz it was sincerely given so must be appreciated in whatever form it was presented.

To all teachers and lecturers, do take this as a lesson because :

It is not the gift that counts but the thought of the giver.
