One day, Ayish came home bringing a yellow slip given by the nurse who went to his school for a health check-up. He got his booster and surprisingly, he was very cool about it. He claimed that he did not cry, in fact he said thank you to the nurse. It was an unexpected change of attitude as we always know him as manja, lembut....anak mak katakan. But this time he took it in stride.
What caught me was actually the report of his eyesight reading which was 6/9 for both eyes. We were further advised to take Ayish to see the optometrist.....ha dont tell me Ayish is going to wear that rim-glasses at the age of 7......it will be a burden for him, not to mention the hassle of taking care of that .....this weekend, i will surely take him for follow-up check. Pray that he is ok.
However, what concerns me is that, how could his eyesight become that poor.....well maybe he was exposed to tv, video, games, handset, tab at a very young age. No wonder abah used to scold him for sitting too close to tv set...maybe he does not know and we are also ignorant. Playing games is one of his favourite and it is no surprise that he can spend hours staring at the small handset and tab......i feel so guilty.
One morning, out of curiosity i asked him...in German.
Ayish, kat sekolah ayish nampak dak apa cikgu tulis?
la Ayish nampak la. takkan ayish buta kot
mak oi...bukan main lagi belagak dia jawab, dia tak tau umi punya la susah hati.......
I cannot imagine ayish wearing glasses...he will not be macho anymore..... he will look so serious, so mature....so sad.....he is still young and i wish he will not have to go through this.....i pray his eyesight will be better.....amacam along?
