security blanket

English people use the term security blanket referring to blanket that is often used by children who receive less attention from their parents, mostly when the attention is more on the newborn. in my case, my children also experinced this as i delivered 8 of them, meaning they are all somehow deprived of attention.

let me start with Along. his blue blanket was a gift by umi's friend who visited umi during pantang(confinement)...forgotla who the person was...at that time i was in Kelantan. Along would use his blanket until it was koyak rabak like roti jala...believe it or not..until now umi still keeps that blanket in the storeroom.....he he he...buat kenangan kat anak cucu along........

Then it was Akak who always called for her uting ( puting / pacifier) all the time until she turned two..when she cried , she would find " uting...uting" when she got it, she would be quiet....abah n umi was worried that her teeth would become rongak, so one day, abah acted cruelly by snipping the uting in front of her....from that day onward, she stopped calling for uting....dia tak tau kata boleh beli lain........
pastu, we had Bob who was attached to his polka dot bantal busuk. ya tuhan....time nak basuhlah yg paling dramatik.....selalu we all basuh time dia tidur...pastu cepat2 sarungkan balik.
ntah kat mana pergi bantal tu....what a relief that he grew up on it......
Atih was another case.....she would ask for her kain batik ayu which umi bought in langkawi...there were two; one blue, one green. whenever she wanted to drink milk, she would kepit kain kat ketiak....then off she slept........umi still keeps one in the cupboard...she does not know about that.....
Eman was the worst coz his choice was something that umi dares not tell anyone.........memang lawak giler....tapi biarlah jadi rahsia.....
Adik n Alin did not have any coz both got umi's attention for about quite a long time. adik was 5 when alin was born and alin was 3 when umi delivered ayish....
now ayish...penutup warisan ...he was so attached to his Mamut ( selimut).......the smell is unbearable. but what suprises umi is everyone seems to share the smell of his mamut.....they said lagi busuk lagi best.....hiss tak faham umi.......but this story is nothing but the truth.......
So.... security blanket is nothing to joke aboout as it is very important to children.......how about others?
